How to use this tool · examples & limitations
Convert between binary, octal, decimal, and hexadecimal.
Getting a reliable result
Select the source representation before converting. For example, decimal 255 corresponds to hexadecimal FF and binary 11111111.
Worked example
Enter 255 with source base 10. The binary output is 11111111, octal is 377 and hexadecimal is FF. Changing the source base changes how the input digits are interpreted; it does not merely change the output label.
Limitations to check
Check character encoding, valid digits and number size. Classical letter ciphers provide no modern confidentiality.
